CS 3551: Course Policies

Academic Integrity

All work in this course must be completed independently, unless collaboration or the use of external (e.g. online) resources is specifically and explicitly permitted. Note that you are not permitted to discuss papers with other students prior to submitting your own reviews; there will be plenty of time to discuss and debate the papers, but you must form your own opinions first. For the course project, the use of existing open source software is permitted, but must be clearly cited and may not form the core intellectual contribution of the project. Any part of a submission (either text or code) that is not your own original work must be clearly marked and cited with sufficient detail for someone else to easily locate your source.

If you have any doubts about whether a particular action may be construed as cheating, ask the instructor for clarification before you do it. The instructor will make the final determination of what is considered cheating.

Cheating in this course will at a minimum result in no credit for the affected assignment(s) and may result in failing the course and/or be subject to further disciplinary action under the SCI Academic Integrity Policy and the University Guidelines on Academic Integrity.

Late Assignments

Late assignments will not be accepted without prior approval from the instructor. Approval will only be given for valid extenuating circumstances.

Students with Disabilities

If you have a disability for which you are or may be requesting an accommodation, you are encouraged to contact both the instructor and Disability Resources and Services as early as possible in the term. Disability Resources and Services will verifiy the disability and recommend reasonable accommodations for this course.

Religious Observances

In order to accommodate the observance of religious holidays, students should inform the instructor by email, within the first three weeks of the term, of any such conflicts with scheduled course activities. Absences due to religious holidays will not count against your participation grade, and we will work to determine mutually agreeable arrangements if other accommodations are needed.
