Syllabus
Course Objective: The object of this course is to provide students with the next, intermediate, level of web design and development. This course will take the base concepts introduced in CS134 and expand & further develop them. We will take our web development skills from static to dynamic.
Prerequisites: CS 134 or permission of the instructor.
The course will be divided into 4 primary topics.
XHTML review and topic expansion (including CSS).
Java Script review and topic expansion (including form validation)
PHP basic development and data base connection
MySQL (including the installation and use of WAMP)

GRADING:
25% mid term
25% Final
40% Labs/Class work
10% Final Project
Late Policy: Unless stated otherwise, all assignments are due at the beginning of class. For each day that an assignment is late 10% of the total possible points will be deducted from the grade. Extensions: Extension will only be granted before an assignment is due and only under extraordinary circumstances.
Quizzes: There will be three announced quizzes. The date of the quizzes will be given in class and posted to the class web site at least one week ahead of time. Your lowest quiz score will be dropped, and the remaining quiz scores will be averaged together to get the quiz portion of your grade for the class. There will be no makeup quizzes. If you miss a quiz, that quiz grade is the one that will be dropped.
Exams: There is a midterm and a final exam scheduled for this class. Both exams will be in-class, half written and half application. No makeup exams will be offered unless you have a documented medical excuse. PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING YOUR USB DRIVE!!
Lab grading: Labs will be worth 20 points for each completed. While some labs may be challenging, most will be very basic and an easy way to pick up points. There will be NO makeup labs!

MISCELLANEOUS: CELL PHONES! PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE RINGER ON. CELL PHONES DO HAVE A VIBRATE MODE THAT WILL QUIETLY ALERT YOU OF AN INCOMING CALL WITHOUT DISTURBING YOUR FELLOW CLASSMATES. IF YOU NEED TO ANSWER A CALL DO NOT ANSWER IT IN THE CLASSROOM. PLEASE GO OUT INTO THE HALL TO ANSWER YOUR CALLS!!!

If you are absent from a lecture, you are responsible for learning what was covered, and obtaining any notes or handouts given in class. All class handouts are available on the class website unless stated otherwise. It is usually better to e-mail me rather than call because I am always around a computer but not always my phone.
