Jacobo Walburger, an Austrian Jesuit, wrote a "Breve Noticia" on the indigenous people of Darién in 1748. The text is transcribed in its entirety here, preceded by Langebaek's analysis of the ethnographic information contained in the Breve Noticia, which deals with Cuna social organization, the natural environment, and Spanish colonial pressure.
