Alongside research and running the NMR facility, I serve the wider scientific community as an editor, a referee, and a reviewer for grants, proposals, and academic appointments.

• Guest Editor (2018), special issue on NMR of Ionic Liquids, Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry, 56(2). I wrote the introductory editorial (Magn. Reson. Chem. 2018, 56(2), 61) and designed the front cover.

• Research Faculty Promotion Committee. Helped develop, draft, and refine the promotion guidelines and criteria for research faculty at Pitt. I also took part in the Research Faculty town hall, answering questions and providing guidance on the promotion process.
• Structural Biology NMR facility. Served as Scientific Reviewer and Advisor at the request of the Office of the Senior Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences.
• External promotion review. Reviewer and evaluator for the promotion of a faculty member at the Colorado School of Mines.
• Search committees. Chaired the search committee for the NMR Assistant position on eight separate occasions, running the process from advertisement through interviews to appointment. Also served on the interview panel for Director candidates for the Pitt Microscopy and Imaging facility.
• Ph.D. thesis examiner. External examiner for Julius Kim Tiongson, Deakin University, Australia.
• Thesis committee. Committee member for Cassandra Gallaschun, University of Pittsburgh School of Engineering.
• Departmental committees. Budget and safety committees, Department of Chemistry, for several years.
