Pharmacotherapy Search Filters for PubMed

The purpose of the filters below is to identify articles that explicitly address two measures of interest (outcomes and effectiveness).

Unlike the PubMed Clinical Queries, the Outcomes and Effectiveness for Drug Therapy filters do not identify articles with specific research methodologies such as randomized controlled trials. Also unlike the Clinical Queries, they have not been validated against a specific set of publications.

  • Outcomes and Effectiveness for Drug Therapy Filter: sensitivity emphasis

(("outcome and process assessment (health care)" [mh:no exp] OR "outcome assessment (health care)"[mh: no exp] OR treatment outcome [mh: no exp] OR (outcome AND (measure* OR treatment))) AND (effective OR effectiveness) AND drug therapy[sh])

  • Outcomes and Effectiveness for Drug Therapy Filter: specificity emphasis

(("outcome and process assessment (health care)" [mh:no exp] OR "outcome assessment (health care)"[mh: no exp] OR treatment outcome [mh: no exp] AND (effective OR effectiveness) AND drug therapy[sh])
