What do Engineers do?

All engineers do something slightly different. A civil engineer plans a road for a car to drive on, a mechanical engineer designs the engine for the car on that road,
a chemical engineer makes a better fuel for the engine in that car. So as you can see, engineering is connected yet different. Emgineers use scientific principals and technological
discoveries to meet consumer needs in the marketplace.

Almost all engineers have a speciality, there are 17 in the Federal Government's Standard Occupation Classification system and numerous others are recognized by professional societies.
Engineering as a subject ranges from large collaborations to small individual projects. Almost all engineering projects have to report to some sort of financing agency; a company, a set of investors,
or a government. The few types of engineering that are minimally constrained by such issues are pro bono engineering and open-design engineering.

Mechanical Engineering

A career in mechanical engineereing would one of desiging machines do do things in the marketplace. Mechanical engineers of yesteryear designed machines
the size of houses to power factories but now a mechanical engineer may be designing a newer more fuel efficient engine for a car.
In essesnce a mechanical engineer makes machines that make the world a better place.
