Statistical Reasoning 90-707 Assignments

Rules

  • All assignments should be your individual work. Every student is responsible for understanding and abiding by the University's code for ethical behavior, as outlined on this website: https://www.cmu.edu/policies/student-and-student-life/academic-integrity.html [Students who wish to work together on homework must request my permission to do so in advance.]
  • As a rule, late homeworks will not be accepted. In a valid emergency, your recitation instructor (or I) may make an exception.
  • Use the fillable homework pdf forms provided on my website and submit following the guidelines TBA. Your homework must be neat and legible: your recitation instructor is a student like you and cannot take time to read from blurry cell phone pictures.
  • Be sure to include your name. Show your work if there are calculations involved. If you need an additional sheet to show your work, put your name on it and append it.
  • If/when MINITAB graphs are to be included and you're using a Mac, follow these steps to insert them into your pdf:
    1. Have the blank hw form opened in Preview.
    2. Highlight the graph in minitab (it gets framed in blue) and do Edit>Copy
    3. Open Preview, choose File>New from Clipboard
    4. Click on that file and choose Select All, then Edit>Copy
    5. Click on that same image (weird!) and do Edit>Paste
    6. Select the copy, then Edit>Copy again
    7. Go to Previewed blank hw, do Edit>Paste
    8. Resize as needed into appropriate space on the hw form.
  • You can ask to see solutions to previous homeworks in my office hours.

Note: Course average is based on 300 homework points, but 340 points are possible; consider any excess as extra credit points.
