The 2003
Dai Nakada Lecture and BGSA Symposium
On October 22, 2003, the BGSA hosted the annual Nakada Lecture
and BGSA Symposium. Nearly every graduate student in the School of Medicine participated.
This year, a number of first year graduate students also presented posters,
although they were not required to do so.
Dr. Solomon Snyder of Johns Hopkins University gave the Nakada Lecture and discussed a
novel function of a well-known protein. The lecture was very well attended by
faculty and students alike.
Srikanth Ranganathan earned the first Most Well-Rounded Graduate Student award
for his scientific work in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Bowser as well as his
volunteer work in the community and participation on the Admissions committee.
Sara Jackson, who works in the lab of Dr. Neal DeLuca, earned the Outstanding
First Author Publication award for her paper in Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA.
