Pine Foundation

Pine Family Foundation for Catastrophic Disease Research

The Pine Family Foundation is a small foundation that was started and funded for the purpose of supporting research towards finding cures for "incurable" diseases. We are currently focusing on Alzheimer�s and AIDS. We will provide grants and scholarships to researchers and graduate students who are working towards a cure for these diseases.

We hope that you as the Financial Aid Office can help us get in touch with appropriate candidates or provide us with proposals for these research grants and scholarships. Below is a short description of the kinds of support the Pine Family Foundation is able to provide.

Scholarships: $500.00-$2,500.00 with possible renewal each semester/year

Applicants for scholarships must:

  1. be engaged in active research towards the cure of these diseases,
  2. be working on a graduate degree,
  3. submit a letter form the supervising professor,
  4. submit a personal resume,
  5. submit a progress report,
  6. submit a letter detailing how funds are to be used, and
  7. designate a person to oversee the spending of funds.

Grants: $5,000.00 to $10,000.00

Applicants for grants must:

  1. conduct research on Alzheimer�s or AIDS,
  2. use no more than 5% of funds for administrative purposes,
  3. submit a progress report at agreed upon intervals,
  4. submit a letter detailing how funds are to be used, and
  5. designate a person to oversee the spending of funds.

The deadline for scholarship/grant proposals is March 15 of each year. Scholarship/grants will be awarded in June and December and the funds will be distributed the following month. If the March 15 deadline has passed, we would still like to receive any proposals so they can be considered for the next years funding.

If you know of researcher or student meeting the above criteria, please encourage them to send a proposal with the information requested on the attached Application Forms to our office in Pensacola, Florida.

We realize that our grant size will not support the work of a complete lab, but we hope to be able to fund projects within the lab or provide supplies for a graduate students project.
