Come out to support BDW at our first live performance Sept. 11, 2009 at the Indaba Ceremony. The event will be held in the WPU at 6 PM. Don't be late!!!

Ever worked a professional football game? Well here's your chance. If you would like to help fundraise with BDW by working home Steeler and Pitt Panther football games, please contact BDW (blackdanceworkshop@gmail.com) for more information. Time's running out!!!

BDW would like to thank all of the freshmen who came out to our orientation session and those students who stopped by our table at the Activities Fair. We hope to see you at our first practice!!

Regular Practice Times

ALL practices will be held at the Dance Studio in Baierl Dance Studio (located in Petersen Event Center) unless specified otherwise.

  • Sundays 2-4 PM
  • *Thursdays 7:30-9:30 PM

*Note: Please wear appropriate dance attire, including sweats, t-shirts, shorts (no JEANS!). Also note the time change for Thursdays!

  • Our Mission

      Black Dance Workshop's mission is to perpetuate the ethnicity of such dance styles and techniques as jazz, African, Spiritual, hip hop, modern, and ballet from an African American perspective. BDW's educational component consists of workshops, performances, and interacting with other dance companies and collegiate dance groups. Its performing component consists of performing for other campus and community events as well as a full production at the conclusion of the semester.
