The Andean Countries’ Initiative (ACI) was formed between the Ministries of Health of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela (Guhl, 30). The two objectives of the ACI are the same as the SCI objectives which were to reduce transmission via vectors and by transfusion. However, the main species of interest for the ACI is the Rhondnius prolixus instead of the Triatoma infestans (Guhl, 30). |
