These data come from our study of individuals with
hyperlipidemia. For each individual there were seven ways of estimating their adherence:
electronic monitoring, including the four different calculations looking over a six month
period and looking over a seven day period of time; a pill count; and then estimating the
verbal recall in two different ways. As you can see, the only measures which were
associated with the reduction of cholesterol were the electronic monitor, with the seven
day doing a little bit better job of that. Essentially the various methods of electronic
monitoring were all statistically significant in terms of their ability to predict
cholesterol lowering whereas the others were not related at all. |
