Picture of Christine FeehanChristine Feehan has been a writer all her life. She often got in trouble in school because she was writing rather than working on her assignments. She comes from a large family; her sisters had to read all her stories when she was young, and sometimes they would put on play for her parents using the stories as scripts. Ms. Feehan loves to read and will read anything she can get her hands on, including encyclopedias.

About her characters, she says, "Sometimes I have preconceived ideas of what I would like them to do, but they don't mind me, because it would be out of character for them." Her characters come to life for her, which is probably why she can bring them to life so well on the page for her readers.

In her world, Carpathians (a largely male race) and vampires are two different creatures, although both need blood to survive and have severe allergic reactions to sunlight. The difference is that Carpathians still have thier souls, have a conscience that pricks them when they do things they shouldn't. Vampires don't. A Carpathian hunts down vampires, and while he's at it, he tries to find his lifemate, the woman who is his other half.
