What types of jobs do engineers do?

Hub Industrial Engineer (Hub IE)

These industrial engineers work in providing daily engineering support to hub operations, developing and supporting the execution of plans regarding staffing levels, sort times, load planning and linehaul. Additionally, they perform daily analysis of the operations in that hub and constantly try to improve its efficiency (according to the company FedEx).

This job would be mainly about engineering research so some qualifications are:
  • B.S in engineering(biomedical preferred)
  • 1-2 years experience in medical device industry
  • Medical device designa and testing competencies
  • Experience creating DHF and DMR documentation
Alpha Source Field Service Engineer

The average salary for a field service engineer at Alpha Source is $80,000. There is a lot of traveling involved with a field service engineer(up to 80% of the time) and may be required to be on-call periodcially. Some functions of a Field Service Engineer Include:

  • Performs scheduled maintenance, calibrations and/or modifications on imaging equipment
  • Document and maintain accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, etc. performed on all equipment.
  • Trains medical and clinical staff on the safe and proper use of BMD, ultrasound or other imaging equipment and systems
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs Bone Mineral Densitometry (BMD), ultrasound, diagnostic and/or other imaging equipment
