What types of jobs do engineers do?

  • Programmer
  • Design code for various applications and systems. These programs may be anything from operating systems for computers, to programs that will stress test the hardware in computers.
A computer Engineer would have an advantage over computer scientists or regular programmers, as computer engineers have extensive knowledge of the entire system, and thus will be able to create more fitting and efficient code for the machines in use.
  • IT Support Engineer
  • This job tasks the computer engineer with overlooking a network and ensuring that users are able to use all of its intended functions correctly. This position would require one to have a high degree of knowledge in areas and activities such as: LAN troubleshooting, systems administration, hardware and peripheral support, and more.
This job is different from a regular IT position, because the description listed by Amazon.com for this job explains that the IT Support Engineer needs skills in PC repair, deployment and knowledge on the supplies used by the IT personnel.
