Association for Computing Machinery

The Association for Computing Engineering, or ACM, is a global society comprised of people of various professions, all sharing resources and dialogue among one another regarding new computing technologies. The society also addresses the computing field's challenges, and has councils in several different parts of the world, such as Europe, India, and China. These councils allow for networking opportunities around the globe and for the further communication of issues and progressions made in the area of computing. One more thing that ACM strives to do is raise awareness of computing's important technical, educational, and social issues that can be found around the world.

    • There are approximately 100,000 people involved in this society, half outside of the United States.
    • Computing educators,researchers, engineers, professionals, students
  • Why does this association exist?
    • ACM publishes journals, magazines, and proceedings of 170+ conferences and symposia
    • Provide access to the ACM Digital Library, which is a database of literature and resources provided by professionals and leading researchers
    • To promote computer research and innovation
    • To raise awareness of the importance of computer research
    • To globally discuss issues and challenges in the area of computing
