There have been a couple of short-term studies - one of them
was randomized and controlled - that have used electronically monitored data as feedback.
In both cases they found success from no interventions other than allowing the patients to
have a picture of what their adherence had been like. The patients essentially improved
their adherence themselves based on the feedback. A self-monitoring is likely to be a good
strategy. In these cases, blood pressure control was achieved in a very significant number
of individuals and seizures were reduced with improvements in adherence. |
