So to start going over some of the professional literature
here. I learned that positive emotional expression predicts longevity. This study which is
one version of The Nun Study. In this one they had a small cohort of 180 nuns. They
did correction for age/education. A pretty old age range, from 75-95. They measured
expressed emotion in autobiographies written just prior to these nuns taking their final
vows. And of course found that people who are more expressive emotionally live longer.
They really didn’t treat the issue of whether that longer life was also disability free,
however. |
