An example of an icon-based lecture slide is shown here. The slide illustrates a message. The narrative which accompanies the slide reinforces the message. The hypertext link to the Economist allows the student to read the original article in which the message came from.

We have used this format extensively in Pittsburgh. One, it is easy to do with available graphics packages, and two, it captures the nature of iconic learning.
