BIOGRAPHY: Tara Y. Meyer received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Chemistry from Grinnell College in 1986 and then studied under the direction of Professor Louis Messerle at the University of Iowa, obtaining a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1991. She conducted postdoctoral research under the joint direction of Professors Richard F. Jordan and Louis Messerle from 1991-1992 and also under the joint direction of Professors Robert G. Bergman and Bruce M. Novak at the University of California at Berkeley from 1992-1994. Prof. Meyer began her academic career as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh in 1994 and was promoted in 2001 to Associate Professor with tenure. Research interests include the synthesis and characterization of repeating sequence copolymers, the preparation of stimulus responsive materials and the design of metal ion sensing systems.
