Faculty Position

I was hired in August 2016 for a Non-Tenure Stream (NTS) faculty position. My responsibility is to teach courses, typically three at a time in the Fall and Spring semesters (late August to late April). I am not conducting technical research. I do not have a laboratory. I do not supervise graduate students or other personnel. I am a full-time assistant professor who simply teaches courses.

Courses

I have taught a number of different undergraduate and graduate courses since I started at Pitt in August 2016. These have included:

  • ENGR 0022: Materials Structure and Properties
  • MEMS 0040: Materials and Manufacturing
  • MEMS 1103: Principles and Applications of Steel Processing
  • MSE 2067: Elements of Materials Science I
  • MSE 2090: Corrosion and Failure Analysis

I have given a guest lecture several times on welding in MEMS 1010: Experimental Methods in Materials Science and Engineering.

I have also been responsible for coordinating MEMS 1079: Senior Research Project in the Fall semester a couple of times, and was the faculty advisor for one MEMS 1079 student.

Safety

I was asked to help with safety observations and inspections for the MEMS undergraduate laboratories on the sub-basement level of Benedum Hall, and I get involved with safety issues from time to time. I am also a representative for the MEMS Department in the Safety Committee for the Swanson School of Engineering.

Student Organization

I am the faculty advisor for a student organization at Pitt named Christians on Campus.
