This appendix lists potential error messages in alphabetical order and provides the probable cause and corrective action.

Too many files are open on Windows NT.

A problem has been detected on the destination media while executing an I/O operation.

- If you are in a network environment and installing on to the network, verify that you have permission to write to a network directory.
- Run a utility program to locate any problems with the source or destination media; the media could be the CD-ROM drive, a network drive, or a floppy drive.

The file or directory specified in the full message (in which Oracle software is to be installed) is write-protected.
