Causality, Mechanisms, and Psychology

Speakers: Carl Craver, Washington University in St. Louis, Phillip Wolff, Emory University, and J. D. Trout, Loyola University Chicago

Due to illness Jim Woodward will be unable to participate in the Causality, Mechanisms and Psychology workshop. J D Trout (Loyola University Chicago) has kindly agreed to be the second speaker. His topic will be "The Causes of Genuine Understanding."

Wolff and Trout, in the morning and afternoon respectively, will each present a thirty-minute position statement on the nature and perception of causality. These will compliment two or three suggested readings from their works that are available on philsci-archive; participants will be expected to have read these papers before attending the sessions. Carl Craver will briefly respond to each presentation. His response will be followed by a two-hour discussion period. Links to readings.

On Friday, 23 February 2007, Carl Craver will lecture at the HPS Alumni Lecture Series at 3:30 pm, 817R Cathedral of Learning .
