Action Explanation, Weakness of the Will and Bounded Rationality

Antonio Zilhao

Lisbon University

12:05 pm, 817R Cathedral of Learning

Abstract: I'll begin by reviewing and criticizing some of the proposals that have been put forward in the literature to account for the problem of the weakness of the will.  I'll then proceed to present my own view according to which weak willed actions should best be viewed as implementing judgments resulting from the activation of fast and frugal heuristics.
