visiting fellows program
History
Each year, the Visiting Fellows Program hosts about a dozen scholars, drawn from senior and junior ranks, with a professional interest in the philosophy of science or in philosophically informed history or sociology of science.
Since the inception of its Visiting Fellows Program in 1977 through
the spring of 2016, the Center has hosted over 300 philosophers, historians,
and scientists from around the globe. Visiting Fellows have come
to the center from the following 35 countries: Argentina, Australia,
Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Denmark, England,
Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Israel,
Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Puerto
Rico, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Spain, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland,
Turkey, and the United States.
Every four years, Visiting Fellows congregate at the Quadrennial
Fellows conference. Past conferences have been held
in Rytro, Poland (2004); Bariloche, Argentina (2000); Castiglioncello,
Italy (1996); Rytro, Poland (2004); Athens, Ohio, USA (2008); Mugla, Turkey (2012); Lund, Sweden (2016)
