about us

University of Pittsburgh Section of the Society of Women Engineers (PittSWE)

PittSWE supports the key values of societal SWE, which are: Aspire, Advance, Achieve.

Aspire:
PittSWE hosts numerous outreach events for various age groups to encourage children and young adults to pursue a career in STEM fields, while also educating parents on how to help them along their path.

Advance:
PittSWE strives to empower women to advance and succeed in the field of engineering through leadership and career development events.

Achieve:
PittSWE provides female (and male) students with opportunities to network within the field of engineering, academically and professionally, and become involved in an international society. We hope to be a strong support group and an encouraging community for females in STEM fields on campus and to provide them with the resources they need to succeed.

Section and Societal Mission: Stimulate women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expand the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrate the value of diversity.
