The University of Pittsburgh section of the Society of Women Engineers, also known as Pitt SWE, is part of a societal organization that provides support for women in
engineering and the sciences. The goal is to provide a network for women who are in these fields, pursuing a degree, or simply interested in learning more. Pitt SWE has two main

Hosted virtually every year, sponsoring companies will be invited to our exclusive event that connects professionals with our members for a night of practice networking and sharing insights from the professional world.
Hosted every year, this event invites Pitt SWE members to network with engineering professionals while learning interview and networking tips.
Hosted virtually every year, the goal of this conference is to inspire and promote young women to gain confidence and achieve excellence in engineering by inviting various female professionals to give presentations and share.
Every Platinum and Presenting Sponsor has the opportunity to host their own personal event. i.e. Resume Workshop, Financial Negotiations, Social Media, etc.
Pitt SWE provides outreach events for students in grades K-12. Some of our annual events include Girl Scout Engineering Day, Elementary Engineering Extravaganza, Middle School Engineering Day,and High School Engineering Day appealing to girls (and boys) of all ages that are interested in engineering.
Elementary School students and their parents participate in activities designed to introduce and foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Over 30 Pitt SWE members and 100 students are expected to attend. This event is hosted every fall and spring.
Middle School students and their parents participate in activities designed to introduce and foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Over 30 Pitt SWE members and 100 students are expected to attend. This event is hosted every fall and spring.
High School students and their parents participate in activities designed to introduce and foster an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Over 30 Pitt SWE members and 100 students are expected to attend. This event is hosted every fall and spring.
Each fall semester over 30 Pitt SWE members and 100 girl scouts from troops in the Pittsburgh region are invited to Pitt's campus for a day of engineering activities. All scouts who complete the day's activities will earn a specially designed Pitt SWE badge.
