The size of the “slices” of a pie chart represents the proportional contribution of each component part.

The use of different colors or shadings for each slice makes it easier to distinguish between the slices.

Percentages for the slices should be included to aid the reader in making comparisons.

It is difficult to compare components between 2 or more pie charts.

If you want to compare components of more than one group or variable use a 100% component bar chart.
