To
understand current complexity in medicine we go back in time (image

and reflect on how some humans became the first animal
species
to provide
other humans with interventions that had healing properties? Just imagine
yourself airdropped into this past with lush green forests hoarding some of
the blockbuster molecules of the future? Just imagine how humans would have
noticed some of their fellow humans becoming horribly ill and even dying
after consuming some of these plants or fruits and then one day some one
among them may have consumed a smaller fraction of it in an attempt to
commit suicide while in extreme pain when s/he would have become aware of
the astounding healing properties of that particular herb. And so began the
saga of medicine when some humans were driven by a natural instinct to try
out different combinations of herbs that they found stimulating or relaxing
or pain relieving and some of them even had the capacity to store the
information of a myriad different herbs in their brains as to their effect
size in relation to other herbs (that seemingly never had much effect). Most
of these humans were putting their tasted herbs on a test/trial by using
themselves as a single un-blinded subject, selecting one over the other with
complete bias and faith on whatever knowledge and expertise they gained in
the above manner. They had a tremendous amount of faith in the efficacy of
their own herbs and a lot of those who savoured these as beneficiaries also
developed a tremendous amount of faith in them. Faith based medicine FBM
survives to this very day in various identifiable and unidentifiable
flavours.
