Can we summarize FBM any better than in this quote from Mephistopheles in 'Faust?' And EBMers till today cannot discard FBM altogether? Humans are naturally driven by faith beginning with the need to have faith in their own abilities followed by those of others. The other important point is that even today after a medical student supposedly masters the macro and microcosm (that could even take 2 decades) s/he may be left with a realization (particularly if s/he practices general medicine) that medical knowledge as well as evidence always falls short when it comes to making all those myriad decisions around the individual patient. Limitation of medical knowledge and evidence itself is a huge challenge.
