Lab (OWL) offers a range of explanations and worksheets on ESL issues: Dave's ESL Cafe offers advice
and links for ESL students: Gallaudet has posted a list
of common ESL errors: Two on-line dictionaries can
be useful when you're working with ESL students: Avoiding Plagiarism Pitt's Literature Program has published a great new page on plagiarism. The University of Wisconsin/La
Crosse has created a webpage of excellent resources on avoiding plagiarism
(including examples of acceptable and unacceptable borrowing from texts): Editing Documents Purdue's Online Writing Lab
(OWL) provides explanations and exercises for punctuation and other issues: Citation Resources Hillman Library offers a set
of links on various citation styles (including MLA, APA, Chicago, and
others): Improving Style David McMurrey has written
a concise
explanation of how to improve style by avoiding nominalizations and
passive voice and so on. While he wrote the page with technical writing
students in mind, his advice is helpful for many writers.
