Alison Stones works on illuminated manuscripts. She masterminded the corpus of Chrétien de Troyes manuscripts (1993), coedited the critical edition of the Pilgrim's Guide to Santiago de Compostela (1998), and wrote the commentary for the devotional picture-book Le livre de Madame Marie (1998). Her current manuscript projects are a book on illuminated manuscripts made in France 1260–1320 and work on the illustrations of the Lancelot-Grail romance. Stones and her international team of scholars are working with SIS specialists using GIS to “map” the Lancelot-Grail manuscripts and systematically study the relations between text and illustration. She is also collaborating with the university’s Digital Resource Library (DRL) to create publicly accessible searchable databases of images of medieval art and architecture that are interlinked through keyword access to Stones's on-going Web site. Currently completed DRL-medart projects offer images of the architecture and sculpture of the Benedictine Abbey of Vézelay and the architecture, sculpture, and stained glass of Cathedral of Chartres.
