Week 1: January 4-6
- Course requirements and procedures
- Assignment: Read chapter 1 in Hofstetter's book, do the exercises at
the end of the chapter (some of these may be on the first quiz).
Week 2: January 11-13
- We discuss the desktop, the mouse, and disk drives.

- We talked about the clipboard and how it is used to transfer
information from one application to another. We also discussed how to
backup your work on a diskette.

- We are discusssing how to build a web page this week.

- We dicussed how to create a chart from a table of data and how to
construct a template (a reusable spreadsheet). We also discussed the
differences between abosolute, relative and mixed addressing when copying
formulas from one cell to another.
- Quiz 2 will be given on 3/17/99. The topics include UNIX, building web
pages with HTML and Microsoft Word. Topics
- I will post the second homework very soon. It will be due on Monday
March 22 at lecture (not at lab). Have a nice SPRING BREAK!
Week 10 March 8 - 10

- This week we discuss anonymous ftp (transferring files from remote
computers).
Week 12 March 22 - 24
- Archie is a search tool used to locate files and directories at
anonymous ftp sites.
- Discuss uuencode and uudecode.
Week 13 March 29 - April 1
- The java.doc file is ready to be copied from the ftp site or from the
class directory. Use whichever method is easier for you. See lab 11
for instructions.
Week 14 April 5 - 7
- We discussed Tables today. More
information on Tables Copy the file calendar.html from the class
directory. Complete the calendar by adding additional rows to the table.
Try to test some of the other attributes (color a row, align text, merge
cells).

Week 15 April 12 - 14
- We discussed Frames today in class.
- The last quiz will be held next Monday (April 19, 1999).
