Tutoring with Forge

FORGE tutors newly-resettled refugees of all ages that live in the Greater Pittsburgh Area and help them learn English and get adjusted to their new lives in the United States.

FORGE members interested in tutoring are paired with refugee families through Jewish Family & Children's Services (JF&CS). Every week, FORGE provides transportation to and from the refugees' homes, where FORGE members tutor their families.

In order to participate in tutoring through FORGE and JF&CS, interested volunteers are required to complete the following:

Download and carefully review the FORGE Tutoring Checklist.
Download and complete the FORGE Tutoring Application form.
Download and complete the JF&CS Volunteer application and Confidentiality form.
• The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form can be downloaded here (this must be mailed in to the listed address and clearance can take up to a month)
• The Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) can be done online here.

Please submit all paperwork via email to ForgeAtPitt@gmail.com or at a weekly meeting. Contact us for any questions.
