3. Costs incurred
by a region’s residents are affected by how often residents access care,
average cost of the service incurred, and the total number of services
provided per user. POPULIS facilitates an assessment of how each of these
factors interacts in determining cost per resident. 4. Indicators are valuable to health care system managers because they distinguish among medical, surgical, pediatric, psychiatric, and obstetric admissions. 5. POPULIS permits usage to be summed across sectors, using a dollar figure where possible, and for hospitals or nursing homes, summing total days of chronic institutional care. 6. Regional profiles show how each region’s health, socioeconomic risk, & health care use characteristics differ. |
