is a sample calculation of the risk ratio which is one type of relative
risk.
2.Note
that we are comparing the incidence rate of attempted suicide among
persons subject to physical abuse in childhood to the incidence rate of
suicide among persons not subject to physical abuse in childhood.
3.Since
the risk ratio (RR) is 1.68, and hence > 1.0. it appears that being
subject to physical abuse in childhood increases one’s risk of
attempting suicide at some time in their life.
