2. Why does this association exist?
   1. The Vision of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) is to serve as the world's leading society of professionals devoted to developing and using engineering and technology to advance human health and well-being.
   2. The Mission of the BMES is to build and support the biomedical engineering community, locally, nationally and internationally, with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; promote education and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, medical, governmental, and business sectors.
3. Becoming A Member
   1. Be a Professional working in the filed and pay the dues
   2. Be a Student studying the field and pay the dues
   3. I would join this society for many reasons. There are a lot of networking oppurtunities that could come from joining a society such as this one. It would enable me to meet
      other bioengineers, learn about other
      research being done in the field, and gain communications with valuable peers.
