Academic Planning

Vice Provost Pack is responsible for coordinating academic planning within the University. He provides the primary support to the Provost who chairs the University Planning and Budgeting Committee. Dr. Pack chairs the Provost’s Area Planning and Budgeting Committee.

The Academic Planning function oversees the overall operation of the University’s Planning and Budgeting System (PBS), which is an integrated, comprehensive system combining long-range and operational planning and budgeting of all University programs and responsibility centers. The PBS was created in 1992 to:

  • increase openness and sharing of information, participation in the decision making process, and accountability;
  • improve the ability of administrators, faculty, staff, and students to make sound decisions;
  • help department, responsibility center, and senior vice chancellor area heads function effectively;
  • ensure maintenance and achievement of performance standards; and
    enhance the University.

Vice Provost Pack also chairs the Provost’s Area Planning and Budgeting Committee (PAPBC). The primary activity of the PAPBC is to support long-range and operational planning and budgeting in the units that report to the Provost each year.
