With great sadness we report to the Center Fellowship that Daniela Bailer-Jones has succumbed in her long struggle with cancer. The following announcement (with our translation following) appears on the website of the Philosophical Seminar of her University of Heidelberg. Das Philosophische Seminar trauert um Daniela Bailer-Jones, die in der Nacht zum 13. November verstorben ist. Sie gehörte unserm Seminar als Privatdozentin und Leiterin ihrer Emmy-Noether- Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe an. Wir verlieren mit ihr eine herausragende Forscherin, liebenswürdige Kollegin und engagierte Lehrerin.
The Philosophical Seminar mourns Daniela Bailer Jones, who died in the night of 13 November. She was a Privatdozent in our Seminar and led our Emmy Noether New Generation Research Group. We have lost an outstanding researcher, a kind colleague and an engaged teacher with it.

The Center for Philosophy of Science will hold a workshop, Causality,
Mechanisms, and Psychology, February 24, 2007. More . . .
We have limited support for qualified graduate students in a philosophy or
philosophy of science program wishing to attend. We offer reimbursement of
up to $250 against receipts for travel related expenses. Qualified graduate
students are advanced in their graduate programs and working on a
dissertation directly related to the workshop. Interested graduate students should contact Jim Tabery at pittcntr@pitt.edu.
