This diagram is a schematic of the collection of population based administrative databases housed at the MCHP. Health databases include, for example: information on all hospitalizations, including information from the birth hospitalization; the physician claims dataset, including information on the diagnosis made at each visit; and the pharmaceutical claims, including information on types and dosages of medications dispensed. The Repository has expanded in recent years, due in part to the recognition that health status is influenced by multiple factors outside the health care system, such as socioeconomic status.
This expansion has entailed the addition of databases from social services systems:
•Datasets
from family services include information on families receiving income
assistance and information on children taken into foster care or
receiving services.
•Datasets
from education provide us with information on standards test scores,
high school marks, and graduation and retention rates.
This expanded repository is a powerful vehicle for addressing important policy issues in education.
