Research Methods Supercourse
Publish Soon, Publish Often, a Guide to Scientific Publications
To publish in
international journals one needs expertise in research methods.
However, in most countries there are few trained in research
methods. We have built a research methods Supercourse and help
desk to assist potential researchers in the development, data
collection and analysis of studies

Mentoring: We
initiated a new way to get broad exposure for RMLA. When
someone get stuck in an area that not known or know little,
someone may do a Google Scholar search
and then write to ~10 of the experts who has publications on
this topic.
Research methods Library of Alexandria Mentoring Program - students across Africa find people in their area of research and write to them under the auspices of the RMLA. E.g.
Dear Dr. Smith
I was very impressed with your article on
antigen recognition in the mouse that was published in Science.
I plan to do something similar, but would like your advice.
I am collaborating with the Research Methods
Library of Alexandria to improve research productivity in
Africa. http://ssc.bibalex.org/helpdesk/introduction.jsf
Here are some of questions
1. I was planning to use a 2 x 2 crossover
design. I was wondering what your thoughts might be
2. How many mice should I have for each cell.
We have a lot of faculty in Africa who need mentoring, but we do not have the resources.
Thank you very much
In general, mentors may have not more 3-4 people a month asking for help. Also the african researchers are constructing themselves the community of interest.
