When asked what led her to become a writer of fantasy and supernatural fiction along with her sister, Anne Rice, Alice Borchardt commented that, "... Another import experience was meeting Odin the Norse God of war and poetry on a street car. He had one gray eye, wore a black overcoat and a black hat. I had a snake in my pocket."
