Probably best known for his science fiction series The Childe Cycle, Gordon Dickson was not an author trapped in one genre.
His novel "The Dragon and the George" was his first foray into fantasy. It tells the story of Jim Eckert and his fiancee Angie Farrell, graduate students at Riveroak College, who are somehow transported to an alternate Earth. Fourteen years passed before the novel's sequel, "The Dragon Knight", hit the bookstores. The series stopped with the ninth book, "The Dragon and the Fair Maid of Kent," in 2000.
