HCV infection after needle-stick accident occurs in around 10 % (7/68) of total accidents. Only one of seven cases showed increase in serum transaminase level and became anti-HCV(+). The other six cases only had subclinical, self-limited or transient course.
Only HCV patients with anti-HCV titer higher than 2.0 optical density has the significant possibility of infecting the needle-stick victims.
