Hermann Herlinghaus

Hermann Herlinghaus is associate professor of Latin American literature and cultural studies, and director of graduate studies in Hispanic languages and literatures.

His recent books are Modernidad heterogénea (2000), Melodrama e intermedialidad en América Latina (2002), and Renarración y descentramiento. Mapas alternativos de la imaginación en América Latina (2003). He is a co-editor of the Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, London, advisory editor of Nómadas (Bogotá) and Kosmopolis (Berlin), and an elected member of the Committee on Theory of the International Comparative Literature Association, as well as of the Advisory Board of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics (NYU).

His areas of current research and teaching include U.S.-Latino film and performance, cultural studies and popular culture, history of modern imagination, and intermediality of literature and film.
