Keiko McDonald

Keiko McDonald is professor of Japanese literature and cinema. Her main interests are Japanese cinema, modern Japanese literature and the West, and classical Japanese theater.

She is author of five books including Japanese Classical Theater in Films (1994), 35 articles, two chapters of books, five book reviews, one translation, and eight film programs and liner notes.

Current book projects include From Book to Screen: Modern Japanese Literature in Film and A Reference Guide to Japanese Cinema (coauthored with David Desser). She is also contributing editor for Literature/Film Quarterly (1983–89); guest editor, Post Script 's Special Issue on Japanese Cinema; and Film Advisory Committee member, Japan Society of New York.
